Suspect in Dade City murder arrested Sunday morning

Pasco Sheriff’s Office deputies with assistance from Hernando County authorities arrested a man Sunday morning suspected in Saturday’s Dade City murder.

Matthew Lamar Folsom (DOB 01/11/86 ) is charged with first-degree murder.

Deputies were called to 37412 Tait Avenue in Dade City Saturday at 2:32 p.m. in reference to shots fired. Once they arrived at the location, which is an abandoned house, the victim was found behind the home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as Jose Leonardo Romero-Sule (DOB 10/06/89), expired at the scene.

A person of interest, described as a heavyset, white male, wearing a white motorcycle helmet and driving a red and white motorcycle, was seen leaving the house at a high rate of speed. Crime Stoppers tips and the investigation led to the identification and subsequent arrest of Folsom. He was located in Hernando County Sunday morning and with the help of Hernando County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Folsom was taken into custody at 10 a.m.

Folsom is currently being held in the Hernando County Jail with no bond.
