A Port Richey woman was arrested Sunday night and charged with child abuse after witnesses said she hit a 2-year-old several times earlier in the day and later picked the child up and threw her to the floor. Uzma Shabbir Arain, 30, remains in the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center with a $5,000 bond.
During Sunday’s investigation, Arain told deputies on a separate occasion she shook a 7-month-old and smacked that baby in the face until the child stopped breathing. According to Arain, the child began breathing again and she never sought medical attention for the child.
