You Can Run but You Can’t Hide!

About 12 p.m. Tuesday, Pasco Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call regarding a suspicious person on a bicycle in the area of Pond View Court in Zephyrhills.

Once there, deputies searched the area and found a bicycle next to a residence on Pond View Court. The window screen of the home had been removed and the window was wide open. A person later identified as Jacob Cummings, 21, ran from the home, attempting to dodge deputies while running through the yards of several homes in the neighborhood. During the chase, Cummings ran into a home occupied by two elderly women on Welby Court.

The women alerted deputies and a perimeter was established around the home. Cummings climbed out of a window and ran, before being caught and arrested a short distance away in a nearby wooded area. Cummings is charged with burglary, two counts of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, petit theft, resisting arrest without violence, and grand theft. He also has a violation of probation warrant. Cummings remains in the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center with no bond.
