“*FSU ALERT!* Dangerous Situation! Main Campus – Tallahassee,” More than 20 emergency vehicles were dispatched on FSU campus last night in lieu of a shooting at the Strozier Library.
12:30am the gunman entered Strozier Library and opened fire, shooting 3 students. Naturally students paniced and began to flee, leaving behind phones and laptops. Imagine how terrifying something must be for a group of college students to abandon their electronic devices.
“You never think something like this is going to happen to you until you have to react in that situation when someone is screaming there is a gun in the building. I ran for my life,” said Allison Kope, a freshman from Cocoa Beach, Fla. “I ran right out the back door. My laptop and everything is still in there. It was shock. It was just instinct. You don’t think about anything else, you just go.”
Classes are officially canceled today. Our thoughts and prayers go out to not just the victims but to the entire campus.
Currently it seems the gunman’s name has not been released. When he was approached by officers and asked to drop his weapon he opened fire. A few shots were fired back and forth and the gunman was apparently killed in the firefight.
